Chelsea To Buy Luis Suarez From Liverpool In Most Sensational Transfer Deal Of The Summer

In a rather stunning story as reported by The Express, it seems as though Chelsea could be in the process of purchasing Liverpool’s want-away Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez. This transfer seems strange as it was only a couple of months ago that Suarez was attempting to bite a chunk out of Branislav Ivanovic’s arm and got a ten game suspension from the Premier League. Suarez apologised to Ivanovic soon after the game showing remorse in addition to taking his suspension on the chin without appealing it. He has since stated his desire to leave Liverpool and the Premier League citing the incessant harassment from the British media as being too much.

Suarez ironically had been linked with Arsenal earlier on in the week but it looks like the Uruguayan striker will be heading for West London and Chelsea rather than North London and Arsenal. This deal seems astonishing but really nothing should surprise us by now.

According to The Express, AS – the Spanish newspaper is suggesting that Suarez might well he on his way to the West London club for a fee of around £34million. There are a few reasons why you can see this deal happening: firstly, Chelsea and Liverpool have a history of being able to do big deals with each other such as obviously the Fernando Torres deal, but also remember Raul Meireles and Yossi Benayoun (ok so maybe the last deal was not so big) but also recall Daniel Sturridge going from Chelsea to Liverpool so you get the point; secondly, Liverpool know that Suarez wants out and even though it would mean selling to a rival, the £34million would see them pocket a profit of about £11million on the £23million they paid Ajax for him in the winter transfer window in 2012 but more importantly will let them move on from the whole Suarez experience and let Brendan Rodgers bring in his own players; thirdly it seems as though Abramovich and Mourinho both like what Suarez can do in the Premier League and he could be the answer to their striking issues with his attacking flair and good goals to games ratio.

For his part it seems as though Suarez might be able to get over the “treatment” he is receiving from the British media as Chelsea are reportedly willing to give the striker £4.7million a year to help him put up with it – a pretty tidy sum of money even if you are one of the best strikers in the world. If this deal comes together for the Blues it means Cavani’s prospective move to PSG would not hurt so bad as it is hard to argue with what Suarez has done in the Premier League on the field in his 1 and a half seasons in England obviously leaving aside the racist remarks, biting and on-field theatrics. People had talked about a possible move to Real Madrid for Suarez but it looks like he will not be leaving the UK if reports are to be believed.

If this deal does happen lets hope Suarez has now matured through his experiences and concentrates on playing football within the boundaries of the laws of the game and lets his extraordinary talent do the talking. Then let’s be optimistic and consider that he is able to adjust to the move from Liverpool to Chelsea better than Fernando Torres did. Striking options of Romelu Lukaku, André Schurrle, Demba Ba, Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez look pretty damn impressive. Surely one striker would have to move on as four is the maximum I would say, so who would be the odd man out? This transfer window just keeps on getting more interesting by the day. Can you really see this deal happening? We will keep you updated on this transfer story as it develops…
