Chelsea To Battle Man United For Star Striker

English heavyweights Chelsea and Man United are reportedly weighing up a move for hitman Edinson Cavani, who is set to be valued in the region of £55 million by PSG.

The Uruguayan moved from Napoli to Paris only last summer for €64 million but, according to the Daily Mail, the 26-year-old is unsettled at PSG and is ready to quit in the summer. The report suggests that Cavani is not happy playing in a wide role under Laurent Blanc, who prefers to deploy Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the central striker.

PSG are prepared to discuss a potential move away from the club in the summer, only if they receive more than what they paid for him.

His current situation is being monitored by David Moyes, who was rebuffed in his attempts to sign the forward this January. However, the Red Devils manager will have to fend off interest from Chelsea with Jose Mourinho keen to bring the hitman to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are ready to sell Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o in the summer, and even Fernando Torres could be on the move, and hence a big money move for a top striker is very much on the cards for owner Roman Abramovich.
