“Chelsea Tempt Him…” Report Claims 131M Rated Serie A Ace Is Still Weighing Up Premier League Switch

Chelsea remain in contention to sign AC Milan winger Rafael Leao, according to Tuttomercatoweb.com reporter Fabrizio Ponciroli.

Reports in the Italian media in recent days have suggested that the Portuguese international is keen on signing a contract extension with the Serie A champions. However, writing in his column for TMW, Ponciroli says the player is still considering his options:

“Everyone is talking about his future. [Technical Director Paolo] Maldini and [Manager Stefano] Pioli advised him to stay, Chelsea tempt him with a monster offer and the limelight of the Premier League. In short, the boy is undecided.”

Leao was the subject of an enquiry from the Blues during the summer transfer window, and there is an expectation that the London club will step up their interest in the New Year.

Up until recently, Milan’s stance on Leao has been pretty consistent; they won’t let the 23-year-old leave unless a club triggers his €150m (£131m) release clause.

However, with the forward’s contract expiring in 2024, the Rossoneri are under pressure to extend his current deal or they may be forced into selling him for a lower fee.

Leao’s current indecision means Chelsea do still have a realistic chance of securing the player’s signature.
