Chelsea face a potential banana skin this weekend as they play against Morecambe FC in the FA Cup third round. 

The Blues welcome the League Two side to Stamford Bridge on Saturday, hoping that they can put aside Morecambe, who have the chance to create real club memories against the Blues.

Enzo Maresca will be keen to get back to winning ways after four winless matches in a row. The latest came last weekend in a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace.

Cole Palmer opened the scoring for Chelsea after 14 minutes, however they couldn’t hold on as Jean-Phillipe Mateta scored an equaliser in the 82nd minute.

The result left Maresca’s side fourth in the Premier League table, 10 points and a game in hand behind league leaders Liverpool.

This game will provide the second ever meeting between Chelsea and Morecambe, as the last came in the third round of the FA Cup too in 2021, when Frank Lampard was in charge of the Blues. They won 4-0 that day.

It doesn’t come a surprise that Chelsea are heavily backed to win by the bookmakers. However, the odds suggest that the game is almost over before it has started.

According to Oddschecker, Chelsea are backed at odds of 1/33 giving them a remarkable 97.1% chance to win on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Morecambe are backed to win at odds of 60/1 (1.6%), and a draw after 90 minutes is backed at 25/1 (3.8%). We predict a 4-0 win for the Blues in what should be a comfortable afternoon.
