Chelsea targeting Manchester United star as Eden Hazard replacement

Chelsea will move for Manchester United’s Anthony Martial if Eden Hazard leaves the club this summer, according to reports.

Hazard has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, with the Champions League finalists reportedly ready to offer a world record fee to bring him to the Bernbeu.

The Belgium international has been Chelsea’s star player this season, scoring 16 goals and laying on seven assists for his team-mates – however is thought to be frustrated with Chelsea’s failure to challenge for the Premier League title.

The Blues are set to miss out on Champions League football for the second time in three seasons, and Hazard could leave for Madrid in order to challenge for Europe’s elite trophy.

And should the 27-year-old leave Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are eyeing Anthony Martial as his replacement.

Martial has fallen out of favour with United boss Jose Mourinho since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez in January, being limited to only three Premier League starts since the Chilean joined the club from Arsenal.

Juventus and Tottenham are also thought to be keeping an eye on the situation, however Chelsea may have the advantage in the race for the Frenchman given they will have money to spend from the potential sale of Hazard.

Martial is rated at around £44 million by United, and despite Jose Mourinho’s desire to keep him at Old Trafford, he could be allowed to leave should the right offer come in.

Martial has scored 12 goals this season for United, making him their third top scorer alongside Marcus Rashford.
