Chelsea Targeting Europe’s Best

Even though there is still a lot of time until the next transfer period, rumors about Chelsea’s interest for some young players have already emerged. This is not that unexpected considering the fact that some injuries have already complicated things for Mourinho. Furthermore, a new project has been initiated since a year or two back and young players seem to be the main target for the Stamford Bridge team. According to Metro, the Blues are targeting Ricardo van Rhijn, who is currently playing for Ajax.

The 22 year old would be a great fit for Chelsea, who are looking to find someone to join David Luiz in the defensive line. Van Rhijn will be one of the most sought after players of the winter. The move is more than likely to take place considering Cesar Azpilicueta is closer than ever to a move to Barcelona.

Chelsea’s manager has already sent out scouts to create in depth reports regarding the performances of Ricardo van Rhijn. The Dutch international has been with Ajax since 2002 and managed 47 appearances since 2011 when he started his senior career.

If the Blues do decide to make a move, they will have to fight for the player’s signature with teams like PSG, Juventus or Inter Milan. The good news is that Van Rhijn recently declared his dream is to play in the Premier League and he will probably be tempted by an offer coming from London.

Ricardo van Rhijn is a versatile player that can be used as a center back as well as a right back. Those abilities will solve most of Mourinho’s problems. Besides that, the 22 year old Dutchman also has an impressive speed and excels when it comes to power and strength. He would get along very well with Luiz and will probably replace either Terry or Cahill for the seasons to come.

The Dutch international is currently valued at €4.6 million which is a great price considering the incredible potential this player has. Such an amount should not be a problem for The Blues who have invested massively in bringing in the youngest and the most promising players that have emerged over the past two years.
