Chelsea target told to “stay at Valencia”

Chelsea target Goncalo Guedes has been told by his father that he should remain in Valencia for the good of his career.

The Spaniard has spent the season on-loan at the Mestalla Stadium from PSG, and has impressed with his performances for Els Taronges.

Guedes has scored five times and produced nine assists to help propel Valencia to fourth in La Liga.

And after his brilliant debut season in Spain, Chelsea have asserted their interested in bringing the 21-year-old to Stamford Bridge. PSG are also thought to be keen to bring him back and make him part of their first team plans.

However, Guede’s father, Rodrigo, instead should do all he can to remain in Spain.

“I believe it is in everyone’s interest if Goncalo remains at Valencia,” he told Tribuna Deportiva.

“His future does not belong in Paris due to the nature of the squad because he will be sitting on the bench and that is not what he needs.

“I believe he will stay at Valencia and continue improving…maybe he can stay for another year or two, be sold at a good financial level and then make an exit which benefits the club.

“He wishes to continue at the club but ultimately the decision may rest with PSG, but I want to make it clear my preference on his future.”
