Chelsea Target Hamsik Again

Chelsea Target Hamsik Again

Napoli captain Marek Hamsik could soon be targeted by Premier League champions Chelsea once again. The attacking midfielder was once seen as a potential replacement for Oscar, who was said to be on the way out of the club. It has now been confirmed that the Brazilian will not leave Stamford Bridge, which subsequently killed off all speculation surrounding Hamsik.

However, it has now emerged that Hamsik is back on Chelsea’s radar.

The 27-year-old has been at Napoli since 2007 after singing from Brescia, he has since gone on to become an icon at the club and is a well admired player across the world. Napoli’s club captain has a lot to offer Chelsea, as his CV shows.

The Slovakian midfielder has a lot to his game, including the ability to play almost anywhere in the middle of the park, as he has shown down the years. An attacking and creative player, Hamsik is feared by many due to his killer instinct in the final third. Hamsik hit 37 shots on target last season in Serie A, scoring 13 goals. The Slovakian has also managed to pick up 10 assists in the league, stats which both show his capabilities.

Hamsik’s departure could be sped up by the fact that Napoli are currently without a manager after Rafael Benitez left for Real Madrid and Jurgen Klopp reportedly turned them down. Napoli are also without Champions League football next season, after their final day 4-2 defeat to Lazio.

Hamsik, 27, has made 34 appearances in Serie A this season, scoring the third-most number of goals at the club with eight. He’s also created 66 chances in the Italian top division this season – the most at Napoli.

28 next month, the Slovakian is certainly hitting the peak of his career. He would be a great fit at Chelsea, especially if the price is right.

Around £25m has been speculated so far for the cost of Hamsik, as to whether that would put Chelsea off is unclear. One thing is for sure, he’d be a great fit at Stamford Bridge.
