Chelsea Target Coy On Rumours

It has been a slow summer as far as Chelsea are concerned. Several bit-part players have already left the club in search of regular football and the likes of Matic and Costa are constantly linked with moves away.

Everyday there are fresh rumours regarding Conte’s wishlist, a host of stars including Lukaku, Bakayoko, Bonucci and Alex Sandro are linked with big moves to Stamford Bridge – but as of yet there is no concrete evidence that the moves are in full motion.

Germany international Antonio Rudiger is the latest name to be touted for a Chelsea switch. The Roma centre back won the Confederation’s Cup with Germany last night, and is heavily linked with a £34m move to the Premier League. However the former Stuttgart defender is keeping tight lipped over any potential deal.

After the German’s 1-0 win over Chile last night, Rudiger was asked about his future. The 24-year-old refused to confirm or deny the Chelsea interest, but did hint he was considering a summer exit from Roma.

“It’s not about the future now… it’s now about enjoyment.” Rudiger said.

“I need to enjoy this moment, and I’m enjoying it to the fullest. The rest we will see in the coming weeks.”

Chelsea are in need of defensive signings this summer having allowed John Terry and Nathan Ake to leave the club. Rudiger would solidify the back line if he arrived, and at the age of just 24 he would certainly be in for the long haul.
