Chelsea Target 20 Year Old Left-Back

Chelsea Target 20 Year Old Left-Back

Mourinho is keen on bringing in a replacement for Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis who is very close to returning to Atletico. Brought in as a strong competitor for Azpilicueta, the 29 year old disappointed and lacked the attitude and performances that got him to sign a deal with Chelsea. According to the Daily Mail, the Blues will look to make Azpilicueta a permanent left back and bring in a 20 year old defender to compete with him for a spot in the starting eleven. His name is Abdul Rahman Baba and he is currently under contract with Augsburg. The Ghana international is one of the most eccentric targets Mourinho has set his eyes on this summer. The youngster is relatively unknown and has had little to no contact with what it means to play at the highest level possible.

Baba Rahman looks like a decent solution but also looks like one of the many players who would be sent on loan as soon as they put pen on paper. Chelsea currently have so many players on loan it is hard to keep track and Rahman looks like he is closer to becoming one of those players rather than a strong contender for a spot in Mourinho’s starting eleven.

Just to get an idea of how Rahman looks check out the video below. Looking at his playing style he might remind you a bit of Barcelona’s Adriano minus the physique which is not yet as strong as the Premier League might require. He looks fast, he helps with the attack and has some accurate assists which is promising. He would definitely need to spend one or two years in the UK before actually posing a threat to Azpilicueta.
