Chelsea have offered €45m (£39.5m) for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic, according to Bild.

The German tabloid reports that the Blues are very keen on signing the 21-year-old, with the player being eyed as a replacement for Olivier Giroud.

Jovic is currently on loan from Benfica but Frankfurt will make the move permanent in the summer with the Serbian international having scored 19 goals in 27 appearances so far this season.

Liverpool have also been linked with the player, but it appears that Barcelona are Chelsea’s biggest rivals for the striker’s signature.

The Catalan club will have issues finding the funds to match the Blues’ reported offer though. They are wary about UEFA’s Financial Fairplay rules after having already spent €75m on Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

They may, therefore, move on to other targets with Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas likely to prove a much cheaper option. That could leave the way clear for the Blues to secure Jovic.
