Chelsea have offered AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie €8m a year (around £132,000 a week) to move to Stamford Bridge next summer, according to reports in the Italian media.
The Ivorian international is out of contract at the end of the season and will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in the New Year.
Kessie and his agent have been locked in talks with Milan over an extension to his current deal for a number of months and the Rossoneri are willing to pay the 24-year-old €7m a season.
That is still short of what the Blues are willing to offer the midfielder and there is an increasing possibility that the player will move on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Chelsea are not the only Premier League team who are said to be pursuing Kessie, though, with Tottenham also reportedly prepared to match their London rival’s offer. You would, however, back the Blues to win the race if it came down to a straight fight between the two teams.
