Chelsea Superstar OUT Of England Squad Due To Injury

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has been dropped from the England squad due to injury, according to reports. He isn’t the only one – Newcastle United’s Nick Pope and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford have also withdrawn from the squad with their own injury issues.

Mount has missed Chelsea’s last three games in the Premier League due to a pelvic injury. Therefore, it’s no real surprise that he has been forced to withdraw from the Three Lions’ squad – it’s unclear when he’ll return, but he could miss Chelsea’s next competitive fixture against Aston Villa on April 1.

Mount’s last game for Chelsea was against Tottenham Hotspur on February 26, where the Blues were defeated 2-0 thanks to goals from Oliver Skipp and Harry Kane.

Despite Mount’s departure, Chelsea still have three representatives within Gareth Southgate’s squad – Ben Chilwell, Reece James and Conor Gallagher all made the final cut.

Fraser Forster has been called up to replace Nick Pope – as of yet, replacements for Mount and Rashford are yet to be finalised.

England will play Roberto Mancini’s Italy on Thursday, March 23, followed up by a game against Ukraine on March 26 in their first set of Euro 2024 qualifying games. Also in England’s group are Malta and North Macedonia – they will face off against these two teams in June.
