Chelsea Still In Good Shape For Stamford Bridge Clash Vs Galatasaray After 1-1 Draw

The Blues started off great against Galatasaray. The Turkish side looked disoriented and ready to concede right from the start. Unfortunately Chelsea only managed to score once which was not enough to win the game. Muslera gave Mourinho’s side their first chance to register on the scoreboard. His poor clearance gave Willian a great opportunity only to be denied by Galatasaray’s goalkeeper who was well outside the box.

The first goal came from Torres who got his third Champions League goal of the season. Galatasaray’s players were caught off-guard and could only watch the quick passing action which left the Spaniard facing only the goalkeeper. His fellow compatriot, Cesar Azpilicueta was the one with the assist. The former right-back seems to grow with each match despite being played out of position.

The early part of the game was dominated by Chelsea who could have scored through their two Brazilian midfielders, Willian and Ramires. The Turkish side did not give up though and gradually increased the pace after Roberto Mancini made a tactical switch when he took off youngster Hajrovic and replaced him with Kurtulus after only half an hour of the match. The change seemed to work. They even got the ball passed Cech only to be denied by the referee who had to stop the game because of Terry who held on to a ball which was out of play.

The second half started off with a great chance for the Blues. Unfortunately Torres failed to increase his team’s advantage to a two goal lead. With 25 minutes to go, Galatasaray took advantage of some poor defending by JT and scored the equalizer. Aurelien Chedjou was the one who beat Cech from only 2 feet out from goal.

There was not much worth mentioning about the rest of the game besides Drogba who received a round of applause from Mourinho while being substituted. The match ended in a draw which gives Chelsea hope they can make it to the next stage of the Champions League.
