Even though a bit shaky at start, Chelsea managed a great game against one of this season’s revelations and many viewed it as the best Chelsea performance since August. Crystal Palace who dropped to 7th place after this 3-0 home defeat had a good run up until now and were expected to put up a great fight. That was the case for the first couple of minutes when they could have scored if they were more accurate. Fortunately, The Blues were the ones to find the net first after Fabregas found a great pass that brought Costa and Oscar in front of goal. The Brazilian was assisted by Costa who was returning after the suspension he had to respect against United. The good news is that Fabregas was quite visible on the pitch and contributed to Chelsea’s win. It was unexpected as most say he is not handling pressure too well and that he is ready to leave. Regardless of the rumors, he was good tonight and really contributed to the positive way in which the entire team performed. Willian is another name worth mentioning. The Brazilian is without a doubt the star of the season for Chelsea. He fired a screamer in the upper right corner and helped lead Hiddink to his 1st win of 2016.
The Blues were worthy of the win and what is even better news is that they looked happier on the pitch. You could see Costa’s face after scoring the third goal of the game and you can see how the team worked together and celebrated together. It looks like the rumors of a rift between Mourinho and the players was true as the change is truly visible. The Special One did something that was not right but hopefully that can be fixed by Hiddink. It’s going to be a tough 30-40 days for Chelsea up ahead as they have to face Everton, Arsenal and United by the 7th of February. It would have been good to have a bit more time to fully bounce back from what was one of the darkest times in Chelsea history. Even so, the team is looking good and still maintain hopes for a European Competition win even though they face the in-form PSG over 2 legs an assignment which is no easy task..
