Chelsea Star Speaks Out Amid Claims Contract Talks Have Stalled

Chelsea winger Willian says he is happy to stay at the club, despite there being no sign of his contract being extended beyond the end of the season.

The 31-year-old can leave on a free transfer in the summer, with the likes of Tottenham, Barcelona and Juventus all said to be interested in snapping him up, but speaking on his future, the Brazilian said that both he and his family are happy in London:

“I have played for Chelsea for more than six years now, and I can honestly say that I am very happy here. If you ask my wife if she wants to leave London, she’ll say ‘no’.”

Manager Frank Lampard has stated that he wants Willian to stay beyond the end of the campaign but reports suggest that the player and the club are in disagreement over the length of the new contract.

The Brazilian international is said to want a three-year deal, while the Blues are only prepared to offer him a two-year extension due to his age.

Willian’s commitment to the club appears to be genuine, but there will need to be a compromise between the two sides for a new contract to be agreed.
