Chelsea star smashes Premier League record against West Ham United

Chelsea midfielder smashed the Premier League record for the most passes played in a match against West Ham United on Sunday.

The Italy international made a phenomenal 180 passes, which equates to one every 30 seconds, however could not prevent his side from dropping points at the London Stadium.

Maurizio Sarri’s side were held to a 0-0 draw by the Hammers, ending their perfect start to the new season.

Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan had posted the previous Premier League best when it comes to passes, having attempted 174 against Chelsea back in March.

Before Gundogan, Yaya Toure was the former record holder having made 157 against Stoke City in 2011.

Jorginho also set a new high for touches, recording 191 at the London Stadium, surpassing his own record of 186 which was set against Newcastle United earlier this month.

The Italian completed 162 of his passes on the afternoon (90%), with an impressive 124 of them being played forward.
