Chelsea star ruled out of Arsenal clash this weekend

Cesc Fabregas will miss Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Arsenal this Saturday.

The Spaniard was sidelined for the 3-0 win over Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon with a knee injury, and is not expected to recover in time for the weekend’s derby at Stamford Bridge.

Fabregas was absent from training as the Maurizio Sarri’s side enjoyed a light session following their opening day victory.

Fabregas’ injury however could pave the way for Mateo Kovacic to make his Chelsea debut.

The Croatian midfielder, who helped his country to the World Cup final this summer, joined the Blues on a season-long loan from Real Madrid on deadline day as part of the deal that saw keeper Thibaut Courtois move to the Bernabeu.

Maurizio Sarri has already tipped Kovacic to make an huge impact at Stamford Bridge this season, saying: “Kovacic, I think, is a very technical player and he likes to play between the lines of the opponent.

“For us, that could be very important.”

Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Danny Drinkwater are also available to Sarri against the Gunners.
