Chelsea star plays down rumours of summer departure

Chelsea forward Willian has played down rumours that he could leave the club this summer for Premier League rivals Manchester United.

The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a re-union with former manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford after the Portuguese boss conceded his admiration for the 29-year-old.

Speaking to ESPN Brazil after United’s 2-0 win over Chelsea earlier this year, Mourinho said: “Do you want to talk about Willian? Top, cream of the crop, he’s amazing.”

Willian too is a huge admirer of his former boss and ‘friend’, saying “he had a great time with him” during their tenure together at Stamford Bridge.

However the Brazilian has now all but put-to-bed rumours that he will swap London for Manchester this summer by insisting he remains happy with his current club.

“I like to play for Chelsea. On the pitch I want to do my best always to fight until the last minute. To do my best for this club.” said the former Shakhtar Donetsk star.

“To continue to win titles because this club deserves always to win titles. I think we have to continue to improve for next season.

“To improve ourselves. To think about what we did well, what we did not so well and to try to make something different next season.”
