Chelsea star labelled as unstoppable despite earlier criticism

Michy Batshuayi has had a bit of a roller coaster of a season so far for Chelsea. The striker has been deemed not good enough by many, and it was rumoured that manager Antonio Conte did not trust him to lead the line.

The Belgian has made just three Premier League starts since signing from Marseille for £33m during the summer of 2016, one of which came during Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace. Batshuayi was especially ineffective in that game, prompting many to speculate about his future.

But after coming on as a substitute against Watford last weekend, the forward produced a fabulous display and scored a double to help the Blues grab all 3 points in the game.

It has raised even more questions about the 24-year-old, and perhaps nudged Conte to start him in more games.

Former Blue Pat Nevin was especially impressed with the Belgian, and claimed Batshuayi is ‘priceless’ at Stamford Bridge.

“Michy Batshuayi is brought on for Alvaro Morata to a few raised eyebrows, he immediately scores two goals and looks unstoppable in front of the posts,” Nevin said in his column for Chelseafc.com.

“Actually, as I have mentioned here before, I have a suspicion he is generally unstoppable when you provide him with chances, even if his all-round play isn’t always quite to the standard of Alvaro. There have been plenty of great poacher strikers like that and they are priceless.”
