Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic is “winning his fitness battle” to face Newcastle after the international break, according to the Daily Express.
The 22-year-old has pulled out of United States squad for the games against Wales and Panama but he has returned to the Blues to undergo treatment in order to make sure he is fit and raring to go for the clash at St James’ Park on Saturday week.
Pulisic has been suffering with a hamstring problem, which was originally described as a minor issue by manager Frank Lampard when he sustained the injury in the warm-up ahead of the game against Burnley last month.
The American has subsequently missed the matches against Rennes and Sheffield United, but it appears that the two-week gap between club fixtures could prove very beneficial.
Lampard will almost certainly look to ease Pulisic back into action, considering his recent injury record, with a place on the bench against Newcastle the best that Chelsea fans could probably hope for.
