Chelsea Star Gives ‘Green Light’ To La Liga Switch But Blues May Stop Him From Leaving

Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso has given the “green light” to a prospective move to Atletico Madrid, according to Marca.

The Spaniard is said to be prepared to move back to Spain in order to be a regular first-team player after being benched for the Europa League final win against Arsenal.

Alonso, who recently hinted at a possible transfer, would be a guaranteed starter for Atletico after the departures of both Lucas Hernandez and Felipe Luis.

The Spanish side apparently contacted the fullback back in March to see if he would be interested in moving clubs.

Alonso’s high salary is said to be a major concern for Atletico, but the main issue is reportedly convincing Chelsea.

The Blues cannot sign a replacement for Alonso due to a transfer ban, and it may take a sizeable offer in order for the London club to sell up.

The 28-year-old made 39 appearances for Chelsea last season, scoring four goals and providing seven assists.
