Chelsea should only regret selling this star, says Redknapp

Chelsea have had some of the best players in the world walk in and out of their door over the years, and it’s fair to say that some of the stars they have allowed to leave have gone on to develop into truly class acts.

In the last 5 or so years alone, the Blues have sat and watched as stars such as Romelu Lukaku and Mo Salah have left Stamford Bridge only to make their names as some of the deadliest stars in world football.

But with all the outgoings they have sanctioned, pundit Jamie Redknapp believes that there is only one star owner Roman Abramovich will truly regret allowing to leave.

The Blues allowed Kevin De Bruyne to exit Stamford Bridge permanently back in 2014 when he joined Wolfsburg, but the Belgian only spent a single season at the club before making his big money move to Manchester City, something that has since paid off as the midfielder is now considered one of the best in the world.

“Three high-profile ex-Chelsea players scored on Saturday – Salah, Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne,” Redknapp wrote in his Daily Mail column.

“The club have been criticised for letting them go but De Bruyne – now the Premier League’s best player – can be their only real regret.

“Would Antonio Conte trade Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata for Salah and Lukaku? And let us not forget that Chelsea have won the title in two of the last three seasons without this trio.
