Chelsea should divert their attention to this star-striker after Lukaku blow

Chelsea have endured a difficult transfer window thus far and the news breaking this morning that Romelu Lukaku is set to join Jose Mourinho at Manchester United will hand a huge blow to the Blues, who’re set to see another ex-player make an impact at a rival side after witnessing Kevin De Bruyne excel at Manchester City and Mohamed Salah seal a lucrative move to Liverpool.

The Blues desperately need a new striker in their ranks, with Diego Costa being informed he’s surplus to requirements ahead of the new season and Michy Batshuayi also facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge, which means Antonio Conte’s side cannot afford to sulk in the market and need to find an alternative to Lukaku immediately.

Links to Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata have risen significantly in the past few days, as it became clear that Belgian ace Lukaku would not be returning to Stamford Bridge, and a move could materialise. However, Chelsea may be better off looking elsewhere and signing a striker that can provide a huge statement of intent.

Manchester United’s deal for Lukaku means the Red Devils will boast one of the finest strikers in the Premier League once again, whilst Arsenal have also made a significant move this summer by landing Alvaro Morata on a club record deal- and Spurs have Harry Kane, with Manchester City boasting Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus.

Morata is arguably not as great as those names attributed to Premier League rivals and Chelsea should re-evaluate their situation and instead make a move for Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng, who’s set to leave the German side after a phenomenal few seasons in the Bundesliga.

The Gabonese striker has established himself as one of the finest strikers in world football with his performances for Dortmund in the past few years and a deal for Chelsea is certainly achievable, as their only competitors in the market currently stand as AC Milan- a side who have strong hopes for the coming years but have struggled to make their mark.

With the offer of Champions League football and significant honours being won immediately, whereas a move to Milan would be more of a project for the 28-year-old, a move to Chelsea could be more appealing- especially as the striker probably doesn’t have enough years to see out AC Milan’s planned rise back to the top of Italian football.
