Chelsea Set To Sign New Wonder Kid Zakaria Bakkali

Chelsea have been making consistent investments in both young and older more experienced players. Even though the transfer window just closed, Mourinho is already planning on starting negotiations for at least two new players. Adrien Rabiot and Fredy Guarin are the ones who are on top of the list and who up until now looked like the only players left for the Blues to transfer this season. According to the Daily Express, one other name made the list. PSV’s rising star, Zakaria Bakkali has become a priority for several Premier League teams including Arsenal, Liverpool and United. The 18 year old winger just announced that he will not be extending his deal with PSV which is due to expire in 2015. This means he will either move during January or wait to leave for free at the end of the season.

Chelsea might see in Bakkali a long term solution for the left side of the offense. The young Belgium international who is seen by most as the next Eden Hazard, could represent a great substitute for his fellow compatriot. The Blues are expected to pay very little money for PSV’s forward.

The only problem with Bakkali is that his physique may not be adequate for the Premier League. At 5ft.4, the Belgium international is next to Napoli’s Filippo Insigne, one of the shortest players in European football. This may make it hard for him to adapt to English football which is one of the most physical varieties of the game in the world.
