Chelsea Set To Enter January Battle To Sign Manchester United Contract Rebel

Chelsea are keen on signing Manchester United striker Anthony Martial, according to reports in the English media.

The 22-year-old has rejected a new contract with the Red Devils, although the Manchester club have triggered their option to extend his stay until 2020.

However, the extension hasn’t put off the Blues in trying to lure Martial to Stamford Bridge. It is believed they want to sign the Frenchman but only if they can offload one of their own players in the January transfer window.

It does, though, appear that Chelsea will have a battle on their hands with Juventus also said to be interested in the United star.

Martial has been in superb form so far this season, scoring six goals in only nine Premier League appearances.

Whether his decision to reject United’s offer of a new contract is down to wanting a higher salary or due to the fact that he wants to leave, it remains to be seen.

Jose Mourinho was reportedly prepared to sell Martial in the summer, but it seems that United’s board are very keen to prevent a prized asset from leaving, especially to a rival club.
