Chelsea Set To Be Offered French Midfield Maestro Who Tuchel Said He Loved Working With

Juventus are planning to offer Adrien Rabiot as part of their deal to sign Chelsea midfielder Jorginho this summer, according to reports in the Italian media.

Rabiot worked under Blues boss Thomas Tuchel at Paris Saint-Germain, with the German having stated that he was a player he enjoyed coaching:

“I love working with Adrien. He had a difficult situation when he missed the [2018] World Cup but his effort has been at a maximum. He has great potential after being trained at this club. He is essential for our approach. It is very important to have footballers of this nature.”

If Rabiot is offered to Chelsea, it wouldn’t be a straight swap deal, with Juve also said to want around €5m (£4.14m) to €10m (£8.28m) due to the differences in age between the two players.

Whether Chelsea would accept such a proposal may depend on where Jorginho sees his future. His agent has repeatedly spoken out about the Italian’s situation over the past year or so but, while there is always been a suggestion that the 30-year-old would like to return to Italy, the prospect of a contract extension has also been on the cards too.

Of course, any negotiations will have to wait until after the Blues’ ownership situation is resolved but it seems an exchange involving Jorginho and Rabiot is on the table.
