Chelsea sent ‘Hazard warning’ by former striker

Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has urged the Blues to “enjoy Eden Hazard while they can” amidst interest from Real Madrid.

The Belgian playmaker put in a phenomenal performance at the weekend, scoring a brilliant brace in a thumping 4-0 victory over Brighton.

However, uncertainty over Hazard’s future at Stamford Bridge continues to brew with the forward yet to sign a contract extension, and Sutton believes that with performances like he showed at the weekend, it will only be a matter of time before the former Lille star is on his way out of SW6.

“Chelsea fans should enjoy Eden Hazard while they can,” he told the Daily Mail.

“They are a different team when he is playing.

“With Alvaro Morata out of form and Michy Batshuayi misfiring, Hazard has been Antonio Conte’s go-to man this season.

“He brings an unrivalled energy and sharpness to this team. As we saw against Norwich in the FA Cup last week, remove Hazard and Chelsea are far less threatening.

“Hazard is the biggest weapon in Chelsea’s armoury and to lose him this summer would leave them with a fair bit of business to do.”

Chelsea make been linked with a number of big names over the past weeks, including former Manchester City star Edin Dzeko and Juventus’ Alex Sandro – however should they part ways with Hazard, it would without doubt be a huge dent for the club.

“Without him, Chelsea are still a good team. Despite a lack of strength in depth, they are third in the Premier League and still fighting on three fronts in the cups.

“But Hazard takes them to another level. Who can they rely on to do this when he is gone?”
