Mourinho who is the one who brought Raphael Varane to Real, seems keen on replacing Luiz with the freshly crowned Champions League winner. It would be the perfect moment to bring the youngster in as Terry is in his last year of contract. The Frenchman would be eased in just in time to start next season as a team regular. Varane who seems to have hit a rut since the Portuguese manager left Real, might be keen on starting new. Despite being part of Ancelotti’s winning team against Atletico, there is little chance for him to actually leave Ramos or Pepe on the bench for the 2014-2015 season. He is still not on the same level as the two who were played at different positions while Mourinho was coaching Real Madrid. That is why Varane had the chance of starting in more matches than he did since Ancelotti took over.

Varane could be played next to new comer Kurt Zouma who will be leaving St Etienne. The two could become the best central defenders in European football according to most experts if they are developed correctly and given time and patience to learn and understand the British game. According to the Mirror, Varane is on top of Chelsea’s transfer list but is closely followed by Eliaquim Mangala of FC Porto and Roma’s defender, Mehdi Benatia. Out of these names the Frenchman looks like the best possible investment considering his experience and his talent.
