Chelsea Seal 5 Year Contract With Cesar Azpilicueta

Mourinho has made sure that one of his favorite players will continue playing for Chelsea for the next five years. Spanish international, Cesar Azpilicueta has accepted the Blues’ offer to stay at Stamford Bridge for the next number of years. According to the Daily Mail, the 25 year old should be staying in London for the next five years. He has already become an established member of the team and has impressed Mourinho who often used him out of position last season.

Azpilicueta is closing in on the 100th game milestone after being with Chelsea for only two years. Even if he still plays on the left side of the pitch from time to time, he has no trouble adapting. The Spaniard even managed to keep Filipe Luis on the bench during the first games of the season.

Mourinho will be very happy to have Azpiliqueta around for the years to come. In some of his previous statements the Portuguese manager praised the 25 year old for his determination and his excellent ability to follow instructions properly. To be fair, the Spaniard is exactly the kind of player any manager would want. Unlike most left or right-backs, he does not get carried away when it comes to goal scoring and he also remembers to return to his position. He has excellent stamina and has had only one knee injury which he seems to have overcome since 2011. Even though he was already a valuable part of the club, Azpilicueta could well be one of the best signings Chelsea managed to pull off all summer.
