It is going to be a great night for Chelsea fans who have both the pleasure and the misfortune of seeing Didier Drogba in action. The Ivorian, who according to the Daily Mail was voted the Blues’ greatest player to ever set foot on the field at Stamford Bridge, will surely have an emotional evening on Wednesday night when Galatasaray play his former club in the Champions League knock-off stages.

The 35 year old striker who spent the prime years of his career in London, managed to win an impressive haul with 10 trophies during his 8 season stint with Chelsea. He was decisive almost every time the team needed him and became a role model for players to follow in his footsteps.

He was an almost perfect footballer showcasing incredible skill and physical abilities while maintaining a steady life-style off the pitch. His record includes scoring 155 times in almost 340 games. Drogba left Chelsea to join Shanghai Shenhua in China. After spending just a few months playing for the Chinese side, he then decided to agree on a one and a half year deal with Turkish side, Galatasaray.

Drogba is now one of Galatasaray’s most important players, managing to score 13 times in his 32 appearances. Despite publicly declaring his fondness of Chelsea fans and of his former club, there is no doubt the Ivorian will do his best to help his current team defeat the Blues.

Despite being 35 he can still do a lot of damage to Chelsea’s defensive line but hopefully for them, Drogba will not be at his best on Wednesday when the two teams meet.
