Chelsea reach agreement with Real Madrid over transfer of Belgium superstar

Chelsea have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of Thibaut Courtois, according to reports.

Madrid have identified Courtois as one of their number one transfer targets this summer as they look to replace current number one Keylor Navas.

Navas was a huge favourite of former manager Zinedine Zidane, however after the Frenchman left the club at the end of last season, it is believed club president Florentino Perez, as well as new boss Julen Lopetegui, are keen to offload the Costa Rican shot-stopper.

And Mundo Deportivo now report Courtois could be on his way to Madrid this summer.

Apparently Chelsea have reached an agreement with Los Blancos that will allow the Belgian shot-stopper to leave Stamford Bridge for the correct fee and return to Madrid albeit not to his former team Atletico.

It is well reported that Courtois’s former girlfriend is Spanish with whom he has children so this may be playing some part in him wanting to return to the Spanish capital.

Madrid are understood to be willing to pay between €35million and €40million for the Belgium international, however Chelsea may hold out for more after what was an impressive World Cup campaign for the 26-year-old.

Courtois picked up the coveted Golden Glove Award – the prize given to the tournament’s ‘best’ goalkeeper – as Belgium finish third in Russia.
