Chelsea Prove They Are More Than Ready For Champions League Domination Next Year

Monday marked a huge day in the history of Chelsea Football Club as their plans to upgrade their current Stamford Bridge home were officially approved by Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan.

The approval of the plans marks the latest project on the stadiums of major London clubs, with Arsenal, West Ham and most recently fierce rivals Tottenham embarking on projects to bring their stadia into the 21st Century.

With the Gunners and east London outfit West Ham having both completed their moves, with the former now debt free from their move and the Hammers graciously accepting donations from the tax-payer, the next few years could see a footballing power-shift from the Manchester clubs back to the capital.

Furthermore, there will be an increasingly intensifying power struggle within the M25, as the top London clubs look to establish themselves as the pride of the city.

In terms of size and success in the Premier League era Arsenal have and arguably still do rule the roost, with the Blues snapping at their heels in recent years as Arsene Wenger’s side go from one meltdown to another.

The £500m development in west London, however, could set Roman Abramovich on the path to establishing the biggest club in London, England and possible Europe.

The investment will demand a high level of consistency, however, there are no murmurs that there will be similar financial impacts on the first team to those which Wenger had to endure having moved to The Emirates.

That is a crucial point for the on-the-field success which can lay the groundwork for unprecedented success at Chelsea once the development is complete.

The Blues can learn from the mistakes made by their London predecessors, from the regeneration of Wembley Stadium, the financial restraints placed on the Gunners, the trouble surrounding staffing and settling at the London Stadium and finally, whatever troubles Spurs face once they return to an upgraded White Hart Lane, there are bound to be teething problems with any stadium change.

Should Chelsea manage to take something from each previous regeneration or move, whilst there will of course be issues with their move, they will be in the best position possible to smooth any problems almost instantly.

Eden Hazard

Thus, provided the performances on the pitch stick to the club’s high standards, avoiding any debacles similar to last season, Chelsea could go on to become one of the most powerful forces in world football over the next decade, exciting times indeed and their win over West ham at the London City Stadium courtesy of their dominant 2-1 win over the Hammers at the London City Stadium on Monday night courtesy of Hazard and Costa just underlined the class that Conte’s men have over their rivals even after a late consolation left the score 2-1 after Chelsea went ahead 2-0 as Hazard who looks as good as he ever has shows that Chelsea are the team to beat not only domestically this year but also in the Champions League next campaign as they are clearly the class of the Premier League. Don’t be surprised to see the Blues do extremely well next season in the CL as they have the talent to contest the title which is a jewel in Conte and Abramovich’s crown. Next year look out Chelsea will be a European force that few clubs will be a able live with – watch this space!
