Goalkeeper and Defence

GK – Robert Sanchez – Filip Jorgensen put in a more than decent performance midweek, but head coach Enzo Maresca has made it clear who his no.1 is.

RB – Reece James – after getting a rest against Cardiff, the captain should be refreshed ahead of what could be an intense game at St James’ Park.

CB – Wesley Fofana – the centre-back has given Chelsea more stability since returning to full fitness.

CB – Trevoh Chalobah – the 26-year-old has arguably been the Blues’ best defender this season, along with Cucurella.

LB – Marc Cucurella – Prior to the Cardiff fixture, Maresca mentioned that the Spaniard had been suffering with fatigue, which is not surprising considering how many matches he has played this season. Hopefully, getting some rest midweek will help him.
