Chelsea Plot £40 Million Costa Move

The Brazil-born but now Spanish forward Diego Costa has been in superlative form for Atletico this season, and he scored his 24th league goal against Granada last week.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are in pole position to sign Costa for a stunning £40 million next summer. Blues boss Jose Mourinho, in search of a new striker, has made the 25-year-old his number one transfer target ahead of the likes of Radamel Falcao, Edison Cavani and others.

The futures of current strikers Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba remain in the balance after failing to impress the Special One. In fact, Mourinho was caught secretly telling a journalist that Chelsea will not be able to win the Premier League this season due to a lack of strikers at his disposal.

Negotiations between the two clubs might be complex with Atletico wanting to permanently sign goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who has been on loan from Chelsea for the past three seasons.

Do you think Chelsea will be able to land the highly-rated striker in the summer?
