There will be plenty of soul-searching following Chelsea’s third defeat in four games. Red cards and individual mistakes have caused the season to unravel at breakneck speed.

After the game, head coach Enzo Maresca made it clear that his team must stop shooting themselves in the foot or they could be in for a long campaign.

Goalkeeper and Defence

GK – Robert Sanchez – 6/10 – didn’t have any chance with the three goals – all of the shots were at very close range.

RB – Reece James – 8/10 – created the opening goal for Enzo Fernandez and defended resolutely.

CB – Trevoh Chalobah – 4/10 – he was sent off after denying a goalscoring opportunity, having tangled with Diego Gomez.

CB – Jorrel Hato – 5/10 – a mixed performance from the Dutchman, who gave away the ball several times, but looked solid defensively.

LB – Marc Cucurella – 7/10 – apart from a rash booking, the left-back performed his defensive duties well, keeping the dangerous Yankuba Minteh quiet.
