Chelsea Player Ratings Vs Benfica: One Player Gets 8/10 And Four Others Get 7

Chelsea secured a narrow win in their second Champions League fixture against Benfica on Tuesday night.

The Blues needed an own goal to take all three points but head coach Enzo Maresca won’t mind how the victory came about after a difficult run of results.

Read below as we give our Chelsea player ratings for the match at Stamford Bridge:

Goalkeeper and Defence

GK – Robert Sanchez – 7/10 – tipped a shot onto the post early in the first half. Also had to come out to block a couple of other opportunities, which ended up being offside.

RB – Malo Gusto – 5/10 – the Frenchman didn’t affect things in the final third and was caught out of position on two occasions.

CB – Trevoh Chalobah – 6/10 – a solid performance from the centre-back, with his most notable moment being when he stopped a scoring opportunity from Vangelos Pavlidis.

CB – Benoit Badiashile – 7/10 – this was a good display when you take into account that he hadn’t started a match in over 3 months.

LB – Marc Cucurella – 5/10 – very poor in the opening exchanges and he gave away the ball that led to Benfica’s best chance. Made some decent tackles after that, but it wasn’t his best game.
