Chelsea Planning World Record Luke Shaw Bid!

Luke Shaw has progressed through the ranks from the famed Southampton’s youth academy which have previously churned out the likes of Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and also the current most expensive footballer in the world, Gareth Bale. They have all come through Southampton’s setup and have made their name in world football.

The 18-year old Shaw has been a regular in Southampton’s first-team for quite some time now, and has impressed the big guns of England with his performances. He was previously courted by Arsenal, though only briefly who then decided to drop their interest. The latest club interested are Chelsea. Manager Jose Mourinho is really impressed by the teenager, and wishes to sign him as a long-term replacement for Ashley Cole, who is clearly nearing the end of his career at least with Chelsea as he has had a hard time gaining selection to the Chelsea 1st eleven this campaign.

Mourinho approached Southampton with an enquiry, however was put off by the Saints’ ridiculous price-tag of £30 million. He immediately dropped his interest and started looking elsewhere, but Metro now report that the Chelsea board remain undeterred by their demands, and are instead going ahead with meeting the asking price. They are seriously interested in acquiring Shaw, and are prepared to part with the hefty amount required to sign him. If the deal goes through, it will make him the most expensive full-back ever as it will eclipse the €35.5 million Barcelona paid to Sevilla for Brazilian international Dani Alves back in 2008.

Do you see Chelsea pressing ahead with this ludicrous bid in the summer if they cannot do the deal in the winter window?
