Chelsea Planning Incredible Bid For Real Madrid Star?

Former Manchester United prodigy, Cristiano Ronaldo has once again been in scintillating form for Madrid this season, scoring 54 goals in as many appearances for the Spanish outfit. However, they have failed to win a major trophy this season which has culminated in Jose Mourinho’s departure from Real Madrid and Spanish football.

According to Dailymail, Ronaldo looks set to leave the Bernabeu along with Mourinho, since the winger has become disillusioned with life in Madrid. The Portuguese superstar admitted he was ‘sad’ in Spain at the start of the season, and is reportedly open to the idea of a return to English football.

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon was asked whether the 28-year-old was happy in Madrid, and he replied, “Ronaldo said he was sad at the beginning of the season. I think the relationship with the current president is not a good one, maybe because the president doesn’t like the players he inherited.”

He also dismissed notions of the player going back to Manchester United, but admitted that Chelsea is a possibility. He said, “There are not many teams that could afford to pay him what he deserves and who can pay Real Madrid what they are asking for. There are three clubs – Manchester City, PSG and Chelsea. I don’t think any other club is going to pay that amount of money for a player.”

The report suggests that Mourinho, his coach at Real over the past three years, wants to bring Ronaldo back to the Premier League with him. The Special One is heavily tipped to take over at Chelsea in the coming weeks, and has identified the Portugal international as his number one transfer target.

Chelsea have limited striking options at their disposal and owner Roman Abramovich is expected to open his pockets to sanction a big money move for a striker. The Blues are monitoring Napoli’s Edison Cavani and United’s Wayne Rooney, but Ronaldo remains Mourinho’s number one target.

Even though it is unlikely that Ronaldo would join Chelsea, but with Ferguson no longer at the helm of Manchester United, and Chelsea ready to offer him crazy money, a move could yet be on the cards.
