Chelsea Plan City Raid As Yaya Toure Wants To Leave

Yaya Toure has transformed into a potent attacking player ever since he joined Manchester City from Barcelona in 2010. The Ivory Coast international used to play in a defensive midfield role for Barcelona during his three-year stint in Spain and also played centre-back for them in the 2009 Champions League final. However, he has since become an attacking midfielder known for his important goals in big matches for City.

He was instrumental in wrestling away the Barclays Premier League title from Manchester United last season and also scored the only goal of the 2011 FA Cup final against Stoke City.

His current contract runs out in 2015, but his agent Dimitri Seluk has bizarrely revealed this week that City officials have until this weekend to dish out a new contract otherwise his client will part ways with the club in the summer. He said that negotiations have been taking place for the past 6 months and must get sorted out sooner rather than later.

Legally, the 29-year-old can buy-out his contract since FIFA rules state that a player above 28 staying at one club for three years can buy out his contract if he is not offered a new deal. The Guardian reported that Toure has revealed that he is ready to leave the club if he isn’t offered a new deal before the weekend.

“It’s a pity City pay big money, but do not understand that human relations mean more than anything,” said his agent, Dmitri Seluk

It all seems a bit strange but it could end up being to Chelsea’s advantage when you consider that his brother Kolo is out of contract at City at the end of the season, so Yaya could well be looking to leave too. Chelsea have bought young players in recent seasons but they cannot refuse the chance to sign a player of Yaya’s calibre. The Blues are set to lose Frank Lampard for free in the summer since they are not offering him an extension and view the Ivorian as his ideal replacement. Adding brother Kolo as some depth in the center of defense might not be bad either as long as he knows he is not going to start all the time.

It does seem ridiculous but if Yaya Toure can leave Barcelona then he could definitely leave Manchester City and we would love to have him at Chelsea with or without his brother.
