Chelsea Path Blocked For Falcao

According to Yahoo! Eurosport, Chelsea will have to pull all strings possible to make sure Monaco striker Radamel Falcao leaves the French club to join former Porto manager Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge, after the Monaco sporting director confirmed that the Colombian is happy at the club and missed the game at the weekend due to a thigh injury.

Chelsea’s season has been very unpredictable so far, and Roman Abramovich will be disappointed at the intensity of the start at the club. Prior to the start of the season, Mourinho used the media to explicitly mention the fact that it would be difficult for his men to produce electric performances throughout the first season as the Portuguese manager takes charge. Mourinho is undoubtedly a fan favorite at the London based club, and fans expect big things from the manager after he gave them a bundle of success during his first stint. During that period, Chelsea had conquered the difficult task of winning consecutive Barclays Premier League titles, and the fans took to the feat very quickly. Abramovich had built an empire at the time with Mourinho as the master running the show. However, Chelsea have lacked that elite quality in their striking play this season. One spark missing from the team is that of legend Didier Drogba, who was a consistent scorer during Mourinho’s first stint. With Fernando Torres as the lead striker, the Spaniard has not been able to replicate the form displayed by Drogba during his time. The former Liverpool striker had his best years in England while playing for the Reds, but his career has kind of imploded as he beoame very inconsistent with his performances over time.

Falcao was linked with a move to several big clubs in Europe, but picked Monaco for several reasons. The city is a tax heaven, a big financial boost for the players, along with the fact that the club have signed several big-time players to create a potentially good team.
