Chelsea ‘Open’ To Offering Emerson On Loan As They Push Ahead With Deal For Italian Euro 2020 Star

Chelsea are “open” to sending Emerson Palmieri on loan to Roma as part of a deal to sign left-back Leonardo Spinazzola, according to Calciomercato.com.

It was reported earlier this week that the Blues were pursuing the Italian international, who has been one of the standout players for his country at the European Championships.

There are a couple of complications that Chelsea will have to keep in mind, though. Calciomercato claim Real Madrid have already been in contact with Spinazzola’s agent, Davide Lippi, so there will be competition for the 28-year-old’s signature.

On top of that, it remains to be seen whether Emerson will be prepared to return to his former club. Chelsea paid the Giallorossi an initial €20m for the left-back in the January 2018 transfer window and he has spent the last three and a half years at Stamford Bridge.

With the Italian keen on getting more game time, though, he may well be interested in moving back to Rome.
