Chelsea open talks with Juventus over transfer of Argentine superstar

Chelsea have made initial contact with Juventus over the potential transfer of Gonzalo Higuain, according to reports.

The Blues are on the hunt for a new striker after a disappointing first season in English football for club record signing Alvaro Morata, and Higuain is reportedly their number one target.

New manager Maurizio Sarri is keen on a re-union with the Argentine having spent time together at Napoli.

Higuain thrived under Sarri in the 2015/16 season, scoring 36 goals in Serie A – the most anyone has ever managed in the Italian top-flight.

And Sky Italy now report Chelsea have made the first move in bringing the Juventus striker to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Juventus are believed to be willing to part ways with Higuain after completing the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo last week.

Ronaldo’s £105 million move from Real Madrid mean Juve are likely to be forced to sell-up some of their assets this summer to remain in accordance with UEFA’s financial fair play rules.
