Chelsea On Alert As £40m Rated Target Reveals ‘Dream’ Of Playing In ‘Huge League’

Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico has indicated he is open to leaving his current club when the transfer window reopens. Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are said to be interested in the Argentinian international, and speaking about his future, the defender expressed his desire to play on a bigger stage:

“You always dream about playing in a huge league. My objective has always been to play in the best competition at a top club. Ajax are fantastic but the Dutch league is not fantastic. Footballers always have to dream of something bigger.”

Chelsea are likely to be looking for a new left-back this summer, with neither Marcos Alonso nor Emerson Palmieri having convinced manager Frank Lampard.

Leicester’s Ben Chilwell is believed to be the Blues’ top target but if they are priced out of a move for the England international, Tagliafico could well be a slightly cheaper alternative.

Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar has confirmed that the Argentine is one of three players they have agreed to let go, but reports in the Netherlands suggest the Dutch club could hold out for as much as €45m (£40m) for the player.
