Chelsea offered superstar striker, it’s a deal they have to take

Chelsea have endured a difficult transfer window thus far, with Antonio Conte’s side missing out on key-targets and finding themselves under pressure to complete significant deals- especially as their Premier League rivals are making waves.

Arsenal have splashed a club-record fee to bring Alexandre Lacazette to North London and Manchester United, of course, beat the Blues in the battle for Romelu Lukaku’s signature, whilst the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City have also secured big-money additions this window.

Antonio Conte’s side are desperately seeking the signature of a new star forward, having informed Diego Costa that he’s surplus to requirements in the eyes of the Italian boss, and the perfect deal may have just landed on the plate of the Premier League champions.

The Sun claims Chelsea have been offered the services of Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a £65m fee, a price-tag that would see the Gabonese striker become the club’s record-signing; surpassing the £50m the Blues paid for Fernando Torres.

With a sensational record of 120 goals in 189 Bundesliga appearances, the 28-year-old forward has established himself as one of the finest strikers in world football but Dortmund are willing to let him leave this summer, amidst speculation linking him with a stunning move to China.

Conte seems to prefer a move for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata though, who’d also cost a club-record fee, and that would be a questionable decision as Aubameyang’s record is far superior to the Spaniard’s- and Morata wouldn’t issue the same statement of intent as capturing the Gabonese striker.

Morata may be one for the future, and could be developed into a star-man in the Premier League, but his record in recent years hasn’t set the world alight and it’s difficult to see the Spanish international filling the void left by compatriot Diego Costa.

Aubameyang, meanwhile, could exceed the impact Costa had in the Premier League and would challenge the likes of Lacazette, Lukaku, Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane for the honour of being the league’s top-scorer, potentially pushing Chelsea to a successful defence of their league title in the process.

Opportunities like this don’t come around too often and Chelsea would be daft to let the opportunity pass them by, as Aubameyang would be a stellar recruit who would get the Blues’ summer back-on-track following a frustrating few weeks.
