Chelsea Offered Chance To Sign Argentine Star For Cut Price Deal As Agent Confirms Transfer Plans

Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico for €25m (£22.4m) according to reports in the English media.

The Argentinian international’s agent Ricardo Schlieper has confirmed that the fullback will be leaving the Netherlands in the summer after an agreement was reached with Ajax:

“We are looking for a transfer for Tagliafico. We have agreed with Ajax that he would leave this year. After having spent two and a half seasons at the club, it’s the ideal moment for it.”

“If football goes back to being normal, a transfer could be done for Tagliafico. There are clubs that are interested but we have to see how everything pans out with football and the pandemic.”

“I will never mention a name of the club we are speaking with because it hurts the negotiations for us and the player.”

Whether the Blues see Tagliafico as their top target to strengthen the left-hand side of defence, it is not known. Leicester’s Ben Chilwell has been consistently linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent months.

However, with the England international likely to cost double what Ajax are willing to sell Tagliafico for, Chelsea may opt to switch targets and go with the cheaper option.

The likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have also been mentioned as possible destinations for the 27-year-old so the Blues may well have a fight on their hands if they do enter the race for the player.
