Chelsea offer player plus cash deal for Crystal Palace star

Chelsea have submitted an offer of £30 million plus Danny Drinkwater to Crystal Palace for Wilfried Zaha, according to reports.

Chelsea are on the hunt for a new winger with Willian widely expected to leave the club in the coming days, and manager Maurizio Sarri is believed to want Zaha to replace the Brazil international.

Zaha was Palace’s stand out player last term, scoring nine goals and producing five assists in 29 appearances as the Eagles narrowly beat the drop.

Tottenham have wanted to sign the 25-year-old, however are yet to make an approach as their quiet summer in the transfer market continues.

And Chelsea are now looking to beat their rivals to Zaha’s signature, with the The Sun reporting they have offered £30 million plus Danny Drinkwater for his services.

Drinkwater joined the Blues last summer in a £35 million deal from Leicester City, however has failed to establish himself as a first team regular at Stamford Bridge/

The report however goes on to state the Blues’ initial bid for Zaha has been rejected by Palace, who are holding out for as much as £70 million, with Roy Hodgson hoping the high asking price will deter any potential suitors from taking away his star man ahead of the new season.
