Chelsea ‘Not Interested’ In £27m Rated Mexican Ace Despite Agent’s Claims

Chelsea are “not interested” in signing Porto winger Diego Corona, according to Goal Mexico. The 27-year-old’s agent Matias Bunge had said that he did hold discussions with the Blues but it is believed the Mexican international is not a recent target.

It was claimed in the English press that the wide man was being eyed as a fallback option if their move for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho failed. His €30m (£27m) release clause was believed to be an influencing factor.

However, Goal report that Corona has not been on the London club’s radar since the arrival of manager Frank Lampard last year, and as a consequence, he is not on their shortlist of transfer targets ahead of the next transfer window.

Whether the Mexican’s agent was simply trying to drum up interest in the player by claiming Chelsea were pursuing him, it is not known, or it may be the case he was simply referring to talks that happened quite some time ago.
