Chelsea shouldn’t make the same mistake as they did with Noni Madueke to Arsenal by selling Tyrique George to Fulham.
The Blues managed to scrape through the Carabao Cup third round with a 2-1 win against Lincoln City, despite going 1-0 down. Rob Street scored after 42 minutes for Lincoln, before Tyrique George scored in the 48th minute, and then Facundo Buonanotte scored two minutes later.
It was somewhat of an escape for Enzo Maresca whose side didn’t play well, but either way they avoided the cup upset, and are through to the fourth round of the competition.
During the game, winger Tyrique George was the real hero for Chelsea, he scored his goal, and then assisted for Buonanotte’s goal two minutes later, singlehandedly helping the Blues to avoid an embarrassing defeat.
Chelsea shouldn’t sell George like Noni Madueke
In the summer, Chelsea sold Noni Madueke to Arsenal, and the England international has been simply superb, leading many to question why Chelsea decided to sell him to rivals in the first place.
One name that was linked with a move away in the summer was Tyrique George. BBC Sport reported in the summer window that Fulham had agreed a £22m fee to sign the winger, however, the move broke down, and George ended up staying at Chelsea.
The 19-year-old has always delivered when given the chance for Chelsea, so the Blues should avoid making the same mistake as they did with Madueke, and avoid selling George to a rival, when he could still provide so much value for Maresca in the coming year, especially considering Chelsea are in the Champions League as well as fighting for a top Premier League finish.
In his Chelsea career so far, George has made 30 appearances for the first team, scoring four goals, and providing six assists for the Blues. His pace is electric, and it would be a mistake for Chelsea to sell George to a rival, just like it was to sell Madueke to Arsenal.
