1) Senior players have to buy into the project

There is said to be clear tension between Pochettino and Thiago Silva. Although the Brazilian has been selected on a regular basis, there have visible confrontations between the pair during matches.

Silva’s wife has also recently posted on X to declare that it’s “time for a change”, which many have interpreted to mean that she wants Pochettino to be sacked.

While Silva could be leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of the season anyway, it is not a good sign that Pochettino doesn’t have the backing of the club’s most senior player.

Especially with the Chelsea squad being so young and impressionable, it’s hard to see how Pochettino can stay as the manager without players like Silva being more willing to back him.
